Teledentistry is the use of electronic information, imaging and communication technologies, including interactive audio, video, data communications as well as store and forward technologies, to provide and support dental care delivery, diagnosis, consultation, treatment, transfer of dental information and education.

During COVID-19 pandemic our goal is to limit office visits to those patients who need urgent or emergency care. Through teledentistry Dr. Sakhi can triage patients, provide problem-focused evaluations and re-evaluations, advise and educate. We will utilize ADA approved platforms, such as, Apple Face Time and Zoom.

What will you need for this visit?

After your initial conversation with a Tooth & Co staff member, your child will be given a teledental appointment. Our staff will facilitate the appointed video conferencing based on communication technologies available to you. Video Conferencing link will be sent just prior to your appointment.

At the time of your appointment:

  • Your child’s teeth should be thoroughly brushed.

  • Have your child available for the duration of virtual examination.

  • Make sure you are in a well-lit area, and have a flashlight available. This can be another phone but not the device being used for the visit.

  • It may be helpful to have your child’s toothbrush handy for needed retraction of their cheek / lip.

Will there be any charges for teledental visit?

This visit takes the place of an office visit and will be charged as a Teledental visit. According to the American Dental Association (ADA) Policy on Teledentistry Reimbursement, dental benefit plans and all other third-party payers shall provide coverage for services using teledentistry technologies and methods delivered to a covered person to the same extent that the services would be covered if they were provided through in-person encounters. Coverage for services delivered via teledentistry modalities will be at the same levels as those provided through in-person encounters and not be limited or restricted based on the technology used or the location of either the patient or the provider as long as the health care provider is licensed in the state where the patient receives services.

Ultimately, we encourage you to contact your insurance company to learn about the details of your benefits and coverage for teledentistry.
